The writing for House is pretty tight, which is nice to see in a television show. Particular personas are pretty well fleshed out. They talk like how I'd imagine they talk. The act the way real people do, but also how I'd imagine they do. And when I'm surprised, I don't think to myself that the surprise is jarring and reminded me that I was just watching a television show. When I'm surprised I think that well, that's a particular side of House or Chase or Cameron that I didn't really know about, but it still makes sense.
I hate it when I get jarred back into reality. Usually that happens when I watch something on tv, or in the cinema, where a particular character says something or does something that is so out of character, or makes absolutely no sense, that I'm reminded that I'm just basically watching tv or watching a movie. And that sucks because I go to the cinema or watch tv precisely because I want to divert my attention away from the real world for a while.
